It took me years to understand that lots of Desis simply do not trust anyone who is outside their blood-line... so someone who marries into the family never really gets in, not even after years of marriage and producing children. On the other hand, the yukky ogling cousins with their hands in their pockets and the funny uncles are family, right? The girls can even be safely married off to them sometimes. And it keeps the money in the family. The money and the funny, All In the Family!
