hahahaha....i agree with that. my mama always taught us of the "desi way" so we never presonally got the "besharam" lecture...but i've noticed, when i went pakistan with my nieces for the first time and we wore simple jeans and Ts (long-legged and long-sleeved), our aunts criticized our mamas', saying that they never taught us anything of our culture and that we weren't "modest" in our dressing. so after that we wore shalwar-kameez, out of respects (and that we did feel awkward wearing jeans and Ts where the enviroments different), but later we discover that aunts' daughters (our cousins) wore no sleeves short tops, with 3/4 leggings. pfft, go figure :/
