Thats...quite believable. My mom would threaten to place my hand on a hot tava if I didn't hold my pencil/pen properly. But that really never happened haha. I've grown older so such threats barely exist. But I'm sorry! I don't have a curfew really- if my parents know what I"m doing. Like I would come home at 2 am from dance performances and my parents would understand, even though they were upset it about ruining my schedule. Becasue I would always have my dance teacher with me to take care of me. =)

Haha. I'm really glad you brought that up. Thats what is known as a 'category error', according to my math professor lol. I'm no girl who is restricted by societal boundaries- my parents have raised me according to cultural values and 'morals' as in my religion and in the Gita. Societal boundaires are forevermore changing according to the society you live in. No culture of mine restricts me from such activity. You might as well say "shame on you priyam! for wearing dresses that show your knees! isn't that against your culture/morals/values?" The point is, American society does not demand girls to be home by 2 am- it is a safer environemnt than that in India. Society is forevermore changing- no one should be stuck in the society of the past but learn to adapt to new environments. Culture however, is everlasting. So it is not against my morals/values to come home at 2 am from a cultural dance performance in the presence of a respected adult- my teacher. Being the only kid in an all adult professional dance group- I am well taken care of. =) And you know how long indian events run!! And we travel too...so my parents trust me and their values enough to know I"m not out there partying or something without their knowledge! Good day! -Priyam
