If you're a legal adult then they can't do that to you, and if you're not then you should have waited till you were old enough to actually take care of yourself just in case something like this happened.

All I have to say is that, you're screwed. That was a stupid decison to make. Especially, when going to India. They'll probably take you to some Guru to fix you or marry you off early.

I second Miss Browngirl. If you are of age, they can't do anything. And there are plenty of organizations that will help you even if you cannot help yourself. Also know that as soon as you're 18 (if you're not already) you can go back to whatever country it is you wish. Hang in there. You can get through this. *hugs*

@ OP: I'm sure that coming out to your parents was a very difficult thing to do. I admire your courage. Perhaps browngirl's strategy would have been more prudent, but the full story leading up to your coming out is known only to you and, of course, it is your decision in the end. At any rate, I hope that you find the strength to stay true to who you are despite the difficulties in your life right now :)

@op: what the hell are you waiting for? Run for your life! Btw, if you do go to India, you can still find a lesbian friend/partner or whatever you call it, homosexuality is legal in India, did your parents know about that? ;)

what you did required so much courage and i cant say how amazed i am that you would stand up and say that to your parents. I know whenever my mom sees things on the news about gay rights she always goes oh they just want attention blah di blah and although im not a lesbian myself i have to disagree with her. you cant help who u fall in love with...anyway i wish you the best of luck and i really hope things work out for you. one thing's for sure, brown parents can be so narrow minded at times :/
