I need to understand something. Ms. Layla says, '*At Least* he is using protection...' This implies that no Indian would be 'using' these contraptions for any good reason. Have I got that right? No mechanical or chemical contraception in Indian marriages?

Not at all sir. If any man regardless of martial status, ethnicity, whatever-at least this man is being responsible enough to have safe sex and not have children he doesn't want or chance sickness. That's all.

Thank-you, Ms. Layla, for the idealistic explanation. Please tell me also what you think the poster was embarrassed about, and why there was the implication that a (*choke*) White purchaser of these things might not have caused such embarrassment.

Mr. Fettslaab, I don't know anything about the poster except for the fact that their 'desi' values and thoughts have a strong bond with them. If it was a white purchaser, a lot of people know that they engage themselves in sex, and our minds know that it's something normal for them to purchase condoms. The way a desi is raised, and the way the 'desi' holds on to their values - the first instinct in such a case will cause embarassment. Normally, how often do you hear desi girls talk about sex? Atleast not in public. Or atleast not in front of guys. The brown culture clearly teaches us that sex was invented / designed by God for humans to continue creation in the world, and to continue the cycle of humans (responsibly). Sure, married couples of brown decent may have sex, and if they choose to have it with protection, all the better. In the poster's case, it's mentioned "indian guy", so all we know is that this "guy" is someone young. Or else, the poster might have used the terminology "Indian man" to reflect an older male.

While I am grateful to Ms Layla and to The Hearthrob, your answers actually alarm me a bit. You say know that *White* people have sex, and so it is normal for them to be buying these things... while Indians, on the other hand.....? Are there ellipses I'm expected to fill in here, such that I should read, '...lots of people know that [Whites] engage themselves in sex [WITH SOLELY RECREATIVE, NOT PROCREATIVE DESIGNS?] ... [IN MARKED CONTRAST WITH DESIS, AS PER THEIR VALUES] ...?' ...and so, my question comes back like a bad penny: Since Desi values assign sexual activity to procreation within marriage (good career move, by the way), and since you concede that some legitimate Indian couples out there may very well be copulating now and then, what does this comment mean, 'So much the better, if [the man] is using protection'...? There is another ellipsis somewhere here I cannot fill in. Am I to understand that it is unusual for Desi men to care how many times they impregnate their wives, and that it is 'so much the better' if some exceptionally considerate husband uses protection? No, I don't think that is the whole sub-text. And I am wary of your suggestion that a general embarrassment about discussing sexual matters can account for the Poster's specific embarrassment upon selling prophylactics to another Desi. Okey-dokey... I'll retreat to more discreet people-watching, and figure this one out myself with the help of other observations. Look out world: there are lots of us impatient generalizers, and we turn quickly to savage prejudice.

#7 what the HELL are you talking about? have you put some doda in your chai? or are you just fucking stupid? what dont you understand about the post that has your friggen panties in such a big ass knot? lemme spell it out for you.. maybe caps will work and get the message to your tiny ass brain. THE POSTER WAS EMBARRASSED THAT A FELLOW DESI BOUGHT SOME CONDOMS FROM A STORE. THE FACT THAT HE WAS BROWN AND THAT HE WAS PROBABLY GOING TO GET BANGED/BANG SOMEONE WAS EMBARRASSING because we all know desi's do that shit on the down-low and try to avoid buying protection from other desis. If the guy was white.. then hes such a white guy buying condoms, you will never see him again or run into him at the temple/mosque/gurdwara. You totally killed this post by attacking #1 with your.. i dont even know what to call what you did up there ^^^ in the comments section. Get your head outta your ass and laugh once in awhile.. cause obviously you spend too much time with your word processors thesaurus searching up fancy ass words to put people down and attempt (but fail) to get your point across, which seems to have made your sense of humor as dry as an old ass parle-g cookie.

Thank you boxers11. I cannot be clear enough in the most simplest of terms. Desi's are instilled with certain values which Mr. Fetslaab does not seem to understand. No one's writing off the 'Whites'. We're just saying that 'Whites' share such common thoughts and practices. Desis Do not. Maybe Mr. Fetslaab does not agree with desis at all for being cultured in the way that we do not feel comfortable discussing sex/ or selling / purchasing sex related material - to other desis. Or as you said boxers11, this person just has too much time on their hands searching for higher level terminology to communicate and dissect a simple event.. or maybe his stunts are JUST to prove a point that he may as well have a higher than normal iQ and we all are simply retarded. Maybe he should create a sister site for TMDL - only requiring the 'poster' to actually explain and prepare a report for him just so that he can 'understand' it all. And possibly use binary language of 0s and 1s to make him understand!

Thank-you, Boxers, for filling in the blanks very frankly. So the embarrassment that other Desi readers might relate to, involves the assumption that a Desi buying prophylactics is planning to use them for a bit of unconsecrated activity; the embarrassment is heightened by the possibility of running into that person somewhere else in the community. (Being part of someone else's loss of face can be as awkward and repulsive as losing face onself.) The grouping of Desis vs. Whites according to their assumed mores also comes out pretty sharply in the exchanges above. These are the things I was genuinely curious about. I really get no kicks at all out of hitting nerves. In fact, I rather like people, and it is mortifying to learn that I've offended anyone. Please be patinet with my ignorance, as patient as I have tried to be with Asian complexity... and complexes. Boxers, Ms. Hearthrob, you are very clear-eyed. Of course there is no necessary relationship between the speed of the motor-mouth and its I.Q. And it is true, I do have more time for this than I should, but that time will be up soon enough. Ouassalaam !

Boxers11, I wonder if you're aware of what an embarrassment you are being to all your fellow Desis. What happened to izzat and patience? Fettslaab does have genuine questions here. And by the way, old Parle-G biscuits go soft, not dry. They absorb moisture. Plus, you're attacking his humour??? You obviously don't know this man. He wasn't even trying to be funny. Next time you're going to type something, it won't hurt to remember that you're talking to real people. Try being nice.
