Today, a desi girl in my summer class was explaining to a black girl how Avatar comes from the Hindi word 'avatar.' She basically took all the credit for the movie. As if desis came up with the idea for the movie! I realized how desis take credit for stuff they didn't do in the first place. TMDL

"In a 2007 interview with Time magazine, Cameron was asked about the meaning of the term avatar, to which he replied, "It's an incarnation of one of the Hindu gods taking a flesh form. In this film what that means is that the human technology in the future is capable of injecting a human's intelligence into a remotely located body, a biological body."[10] Jake's avatar and Neytiri. One of the inspirations for the look of the Na'vi came from a dream that Cameron's mother had told him about.[64]The look of the Na'viâ

ARGHH..nvm. Here it is in shorten form: Along with the name Avatar..." the image is a connection to the hindu dieties" . Thats the extent of it though. Nothing more, nothing less. He was inspired by a lot of other cultures though. Sorry for the fail posts...

That's even more ridiculous than how desis went around being all proud of Slumdog Millionaire. Desis didn't make that movie! And "avatar" has been appropriated into English for quite a while now, that's how the English language works.

Mhm...yeah. Twas directed by a white guy. You know whats also sad? AR rehman didn't sing Jai Ho..he was the producer for the song. And Sukshinder Singh didn't even get any credit for it. I guess thats how politics work....
