I am so jealous. Its an amazing feeling...to be in the atmosphere, on the earth..the land you belong to...! I hear ya! I wouldn't call this a fail story. It has a lot of sentimental value. A sense of belonging we are feeling...yes? ;)

Some day soon you will be able to get off the plane anywhere in the world and realize that by returning to Earth you have returned to your Kind.

....its just INdia? Is that what it is...drama? If you don't have such feelings doesn't mean other people don't. You shoudln't tell ppl who are feeling home sick to shut up and say "its just a home" . Its very mean. Unlike you, many people have memories of their childhood there which they feel a strong sense of connection to. They feel a connection to their ancestral homes ..they feel a connection with teh aunty down the street who watched them grow up. Who is embedded in their memory as "home." India isn't just some land mass..its a home to more than a billion people. Do you know what a Home means? IT means the one place you will always be welcome..the one place that accepts you unconditionally. Living in America..I just don't get the same feeling I get in INdia. To me..America is just a location. and India is home. THe first chance I get..I'm getting out of here. I"m crazy..say all my cousins who tell me of the many problems in INdia. Well...unfortunately they, and maybe even you by the sound of it, probably haven't felt what an identity means in the world. No offense...but nothing beats the feeling of me climbing the steps in my childhood home. and re-living the memories of my childhood. Nothing beats the memories of the makka-wala recognizing me as the little girl who used to play cricket on the street. "Oh its you Priyam! Back from America? Look how you have grown!" are the shouts in my gali. To hear anecdotes of your childhood..to meet your family! My LIFE Is over tehre and here you are saying "OH shut up. Its just INDIA"? Thats gross you know. YOu should be respectful of other people's feelings. INdia..be how it is..its my home..and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the world. No matter how good of a life I've recieved in America..and how great of an education. Maybe you recieve al this over here...all your family might be here...your memories here...but you cannto say that for the rest of us. Its....a really special place, you know.....

Btw, America is not just a "location", it's also a home and it's wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than India in every way possible. You're a lunatic for wanting to leave America and go live in India.

lol soap operas huh? So none of those memories are original? Those feelings that you think are cheesy and dramatic because they are too good to be true? Sorry to break it to you..but thats my culture. Those are my feelings. No soap opera can compare to the realization of what home means. And I never said America isn't also a home. I said..specifically that America is probably your home in my previous post..and evidentlyb you love it dearly. Like you wouldn't want to leave your home to live in India and you callme crazy, well India's my home and I dono't like living in America so far away from my memories! All those memories are not soap operas imma desi; they are truths. I'm glad you FINALLy understand me. America your home. India mine. Your view: America is WAY better than India...my view is...no amount of materialistic comfort can undermine the truths of Identity, a homeland, a sense of belongingness ..because for once..i am in MY country, among MY people, eating MY food, experiencing the atmosphere that formed me, the place I was BIologically/genetically designed to live in. I'm glad you finally understand me though. =) You know what a home is. And what it feels to be away from it. And its ok, because dramatic doesn't mean false. Dramatic comes with the disbelief of "how can this be so cheesy?" well, sorry to break it to you, but it is. And i love every single BIT of it. Because its true! There is cheese...and there is happiness because of it! For thats my culture. and... truthfully what you said... only a person who has lived so many years away from their home has the right to say it. But I pray you never experience the sense of homesickness I feel...stay happy in your home imma desi. And when you go explore the world, if you ever do, don't forget your home!
