I hope you told her it's meaning in such a way she could be a curious and supportive friend to you instead of making her feel bad. Most nob-Desis know little of Desi culture and symbols because too often we act like we're a special club only Southeast Asians can be a part of. Stop being offended and instead take oppertunities like this as a chance to grow stronger in your friendships though just letting them in.

Well, technically, thats what mendhi is. It's called a henna tattoo. Ever been to Six Flags or anywhere else that they offer them? Yeah. No reason to be offended.
