i'd agree with that. i remember whenever i used to ask my mama why i weren't allowed to go to "such and such" place, or why i wasn't allowed to be back at "such and such" time, but my friends never had that restriction with their parents...she'd simply answer "because their parents don't know how to raise kids...if they're child would ask 'mum, dad...i'm going out to get shot by local troubled youths', they'll simply say, 'okay, but try not to stay out too late' and then they'll feel proud because they built on "communication" with their kids. they call that parenting!" mind you, i always loved my mama's ranting, though it wouldn't be at all fun to listen to when it becomes a lecture- and that would only happen if i huffed, slouched or kissed my teeth at the wrong time. *rollseyes*
